چکیده
Abstract The construction of the Rajamandala hydroelectric power plant civil works has experienced critical problems that arise in implementation process, with occurrence cracks cavities conditions headrace tunnel locations. We applied cross-hole seismic tomography to detect important heterogeneities and mechanical proprieties formations between two boreholes this case inferred condition. source is inside borehole “a sparker” receivers “hydrophones” are an adjacent one, sparker lowered into one step at time. Seismic waves, propagating wall rock, spread widely, reflected refracted when encountering interfaces rocks different acoustic impedances. Reflected waves returning recorded. After processing first arrivals P we obtain a cross section velocities wellbores. With tomography, basis could be provided parameter adjustments guarantee safety. Our result shown there weak zone above low Vp (~1.2 km/s) may related (may fracture, unconsolidated fluid-filled rock or landslide caving). Checker-board resolution test also conducted determine tomogram areas reliable interpreted. challenges have poor due not enough raypath. Cross-hole can effectively safely guide excavation working surface combination reconstructed images technology.

The application of diffraction tomography to cross-hole seismic data
Previously published equations for diffraction tomography do not solve the “two and one-half dimensional problem” (point source illumination of two-dimensional geology) if sources and receivers are confined to linear arrays. In spite of this lack of a formal solution, useful images can be formed by the application of twodimensional formulas to such problems. The estimation of difference fields....
متن کاملapplication of seismic waveform tomography in an engineering seismic cross-hole study
seismic tomography is an imaging technique which creates maps of subsurface elastic properties such as p/s wave velocity, density and attenuation, based on observed seismograms and use of sophisticated inversion algorithms. amongst different acquisition geometries, seismic cross-hole tomography has a special position in geophysical surveys with many applications in hydrocarbons, coal and other ...
متن کاملApplication of Seismic Refraction Tomography to Karst Cavities
For three years we have used synthetic and field data to investigate the effectiveness of commercial refraction tomography codes on both simple and complex subsurface velocity structures, with the ultimate goal of determining the suitability of the method for karst problems. The results of these studies indicate that refraction tomography is able to resolve karst features under some conditions....
متن کاملApplication of Autoregressive Extrapolation to Seismic Tomography
Seismic tomography used in the laboratory, as well as in the field, is strongly affected by limited and nonuniform ray coverage. A two-stage autoregressive extrapolation technique is proposed that can be used to extend the observed data and provide better tomographic images. The algorithm is based on the principle that the extrapolated data add minimal information to the existing data. The firs...
متن کاملCrosshole seismic tomography with cross-firing geometry
We have developed a case study of crosshole seismic tomography with a cross-firing geometry in which seismic sources were placed in two vertical boreholes alternatingly and receiver arrays were placed in another vertical borehole. There are two crosshole seismic data sets in a conventional sense. These two data sets are used jointly in seismic tomography. Because the local sediment is dominated...
